Rocamadour
A holy sanctuary dating from the Middle Ages and after Mont Saint Michel the most frequently visited tourist site in France, this medieval city is famous because of its basilica, many chapels and Black Madonna. The historic center with its portals and narrow alleyways was built between the 11th and 15 th centuries. Near Rocamadour there are several noteworthy geological sites to visit: the artesian springs of Cabouy and Saint Sauveur and the caves of Presque. Rocamadour and the surrounds including the nearby Padirac Gorge described below provide a wide range of possibilities for a memorable daytrip.

Gouffre de Padirac / Padirac Gorge
The tropical-like waterfalls and an underground river can be navigated with a boat. The cave landscape contrasts impressively with the chalk landscape lying above it.
